MSSQL Defaults

A default specifies a value to be inserted into the column to which the object is bound (or into all columns, in the case of an alias data type), when no value is explicitly supplied during an insert. A default that conflicts with a rule is never inserted. You can Create and Drop default but cannot ALTER. [Note: This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server.]
